The Viking Yacht Company has celebrated four and a half decades in business building luxury performance sportfishing and cruising yachts. Started by brothers Bob and Bill Healey in 1964 when they bought Peterson-Viking Builders, a small, struggling New Jersey builder of 37-foot, wooden sportfishing boats, Viking Yachts has grown to become a world leader in semi-custom fiberglass yacht production with over 4,000 Vikings delivered.
Lead Not Follow
Viking raises the bar front by incorporating the best in design and performance. Powder-coated structural steel engine beds isolate vibration and ensure drive train alignment. The Delta-T hull-side mounted ventilation system keeps the engineroom dry and combustion and propulsion noise levels low. From technical advancements like underwater exhaust systems and tank testing to designer touches like curved doorways and exquisite joinery, Vikings are the epitome of luxury and seagoing excellence.
See for yourself why Viking craftsmanship and blue-water performance are the standards by which other boats are judged. Please contact your Viking dealer to arrange a factory tour and sea trial at your convenience and experience the “Viking Difference.”
When the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida, opened in 2002, the plan was simple. Knowing that 70 percent of Viking Yacht owners pass through the Palm Beach area in the course of a year, we felt the time was ripe to provide our owners with a convenient location featuring every modern amenity a boat owner might need to maintain the yacht in Bristol fashion. Additionally, we wanted to have a central location for Viking warranty work, and above all deliver a level of service that made the boatyard experience a pleasurable one.
We also knew that it would take more than talk or a name change to bring our vision to fruition. So, after purchasing the Old Slip Marina, we set about turning the idea into reality. To make it happen, new floating docks were installed, a new 150-ton Travelift was purchased and a 125-foot by 150-foot open end building with 50 feet of overhead clearance for tower boats was built. A three-story building also was constructed with service bays and office space. The response was immediate and the yard quickly gained a reputation for its excellent service and commitment to owner satisfaction. With sister companies, Atlantic Marine Electronics and Palm Beach Towers on the premises, the Viking Service Center became a one-stop solution for routine maintenance, engine and generator overhauls, major renovations, mechanical, carpentry, fiberglass and electrical reparations. With our skilled shipwrights and Viking trained technicians we could serve our owners the best way we knew how: the Viking way.
Viking Yachts: Made in America with Experience and Pride
For nearly 50 years, the Viking Yacht Company has devoted its plentiful resources to building a better boat everyday. First and foremost, we are boat builders dedicated to manufacturing the world’s finest yachts from 42 to 82 feet. As a privately owned company, we answer only to ourselves and to our valuable and loyal customers in our goal to build the best boats that money can buy. We are a debt-free company operated by the Healey family with committed support from both first and second generation members. Several of the plant supervisors and managers have been with company since it was founded on April 1, 1964. Our oldest dealer has been with us for more than 35 years. Clearly, our relationships with dealers, customers, and vendors are the basic foundation of our success and continuous growth.
Vertically integrated, virtually 90 percent of everything found aboard a Viking is designed, manufactured and installed aboard the boats in our 810,000 square-foot facility located on 52 acres on the banks of the Bass River near Atlantic City, New Jersey. All Vikings are designed in-house by our team of designers, naval architects and production engineers and every Viking is built to live large in the wild. Five buildings house the various design and construction departments including a metal shop, a wood mill, large and small fiberglass parts shops, R & D, propeller test shop and six production lines. We have the capacity to build 108 boats per year and while the majority of our annual output is delivered to a North American domestic market, Viking has always prided itself on the ability to expand its reach to the international arena.
